WHY SHOULD I FEED RAW MEATY BONES?

RAW MEATY BONES

CHEWING ON A BONE IS AN INSTINCTUAL AND STIMULATING ACTIVITY FOR DOGS. IT KEEPS THEM AMUSED, REDUCES BOREDOM AND CAN STOP THEM FROM CHEWING ON THINGS YOU'D RATHER THEY DIDN'T- SUCH AS FURNITURE, REMOTE CONTROLS, SHOES, ETC. THE ACT OF CHEWING RELEASES ENDORPHINS INTO THEIR BRAIN, WHICH CREATES A FEELING OF OVERALL WELL-BEING - MUCH LIKE THAT FIRST DRINK AFTER A LONG DAY AT THE OFFICE!

REGULARLY GIVING YOUR DOG RAW MEATY BONES, CAN ALSO SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE THE RISK OF PERIODONTAL DISEASE. GNAWING ON THE BONES AND CONSUMING OF THE CALCIUM CONTAINED WITHIN CAN PREVENT TARTAR BUILD UP, GUM DISEASE AND TOOTH LOSS, AND ALSO HELPS TO STRENGTHEN YOUR PET’S OWN BONES.

RAW MEATY BONES ARE A FANTASTIC ENRICHMENT ACTIVITY, WHICH SATISFIES YOUR DOG'S INHERENT NEED TO CHEW. THEY ARE GREAT FOR KEEPING PUPPIES ENTERTAINED, RELAXING OLDER DOGS AND TO PROVIDE AS A TREAT FOR A JOB WELL DONE!

HERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN FEEDING RAW MEATY BONES:

  • ALWAYS FEED RAW BONES

  • NEVER LEAVE YOUR PET UNATTENDED WHILE EATING BONES OR CHEWS.

  • DON'T LEAVE THE BONES OUTSIDE IN THE SUN- THEY WILL BAKE AND BECOME BRITTLE

  • THROW THE BONES AWAY WHEN YOUR DOG HAS FINISHED WITH THEM.

  • SIZE MATTERS- GO BIGGER TO REDUCE RISK OF CHOKING

  • CATS SHOULD NOT BE FED LARGE BEEF BONES, BUT RATHER CHICKEN NECKS, BACK, LEGS, THIGHS, AND EVEN BREASTS. THEY ALSO ENJOY WHOLE QUAIL, DUCK PARTS, & TURKEY NECKS.

IS IT DANGEROUS TO GIVE MY DOG OR CAT RAW BONES?

THERE ARE QUITE A FEW MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT GIVING OUR PETS BONES. YES, COOKED BONES OF ANY TYPE BECOME BRITTLE AND SPLINTER WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY HARM YOUR PET IF INGESTED.

CANINES AND FELINES ARE DESIGNED TO CHEW, CONSUME AND ENJOY RAW MEATY BONES. THEIR STRONG TEETH AND JAWS BREAK AND CRUSH BONE INTO PIECES SMALL ENOUGH TO BE SWALLOWED. THEN, THEIR STOMACH ACID BREAKS DOWN THE BONE SO THE CALCIUM AND OTHER IMPORTANT MINERALS CAN BE ABSORBED

RAW MEATY BONE FEEDING INSTRUCTIONS

RAW MEATY BONES SHOULD BE THAWED IN THE REFRIGERATOR BEFORE FEEDING. BE SURE YOUR PET HAS AMPLE TIME TO ENJOY, THE LONGER THEY HAVE TO CHEW ON THE BONE, THE GREATER THE BENEFIT OF THE ACTIVITY.

WE RECOMMEND FEEDING BONES AND CHEWS BEFORE THEIR DINNER AS THEY WILL SPEND MORE TIME GNAWING AND BREAKING DOWN THE BONE TO GET TO THE GOOD STUFF. ONCE THEY HAVE FINISHED THEIR BONE, DISCARD ANY REMAINS (IF FEEDING LARGE BEEF RIB BONES OR MARROW BONES). BEEF TRACHEA, BOTH DRIED AND RAW, IS WHOLLY DIGESTIBLE AND THEY WILL NOT HAVE ANY LEFTOVERS.

ALLOW AN HOUR OR TWO TO PASS BEFORE FEEDING THEM DINNER AS THE ENTIRE PROCESS OF CHEWING ON THE BONE PRODUCES NECESSARY STOMACH ACID TO BREAK DOWN THE BONE AND WE LIKE TO BE SURE THEY GO TO BED WITH A FULL BELLY.
